The Innovation Debate

Organizations across sectors set up their innovative initiatives with varying goals, yet they all struggle with the age-old question of how to maintain them – inside or outside? Should my innovative initiative, innovation team, or new idea remain structurally part of the organization or should we spin it off as a stand-alone entity to preserve its creativity, grant autonomy, de-couple from day-to-day operations? What are the ties that then bind the two together and how strong or loose should these be? What are best practices for innovation teams and initiatives today, particularly in large organizations that often struggle to innovate?
Fireside Chat & Members’ Networking Drinks – “Innovation is Sparkling”

Harnessing Cross-Sector Collective Intelligence
EY and the Geneva Innovation Movement will jointly host the event “Harnessing Cross-Sector Collective Intelligence”. The evening will start with an exciting and interactive panel of leaders from UN, public and private sector institutions. We will work together towards solutions in round-table interactions to debate sub-themes and develop action points. The final plenary discussion will summarize key learnings and point out ideas for further collaboration. There will be an opportunity to network with refreshments afterwards.
Innovation Movement Training: Innovating as a Force for Good in a Transforming World
A hands-on experience in a virtual setting, where you work in cross-functional and cross-organizational teams on skills and strategies that permit innovation in a transforming world. The training engages leaders from all over the globe in innovation and provides processes and tools to assess the value-adding potential and the challenges of innovation-driven agencies and organizations.
Members’ Networking Drinks – “Innovation in the Sun”
On 31 August 2023, starting from 17:30, Members of the Geneva Innovation Movement Association will have the opportunity to meet each other and share their knowledge and experiences in an informal setting. Build your network of people using innovation as a force for good! Members are welcome to bring an invitee and introduce him/her to the GIM before (s)he becomes a member. Join us!
Digital Skills for a Changing World: Transferring Learnings from CERN
Learn form the ecosystem in this event where we will present the findings reported in the white paper “Digital Skills for a Changing World: Transferring Learnings from CERN”. This event will take place in a hybrid setting, so that all GIM Members can participate in this Knowledge Translating event, regardless of their physical location. This event is organised in collaboration with CERN and the Center for Innovation & Partnerships (UNIGE)

End-of-Year Fireside Chat & Networking event
On December 14, the Geneva Innovation Movement will invites its Members to Toast on an Innovative 2023! We will also host a Fireside Chat on the Future of Innovation with Susanna Swann (Head of HR at Geneva Airport), Thomas Neufing (Chief, Center for Learning and Multilingualism at UN Geneva), and Nan Buzard (Head of Innovation at ICRC).
