Workshop: Leading Digital Transformation

The 4th Industrial Revolution is here and yet our people and our organizations are still grappling with the change. The way that services are delivered, that humans interact, and that connections are created are now fully entrenched in technology. New approaches for how to prioritize activities and streams of work and new skills for how to implement these, will be required on three levels to manage this change effectively.

At the individual level, confidence is required to try out new tools and the skills to understand when these tools can be used and how to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness. At the team leadership level, managers are poised to lead their groups through change. A deep understanding of what ‘digital thinking’ means for their area of work will motivate and engage teams, boost their collaboration for remote management and distributed work scenarios and create of new KPIs. At the senior leadership level, new strategies to focus activities, leverage capabilities and make investments in digital technology will arise from a clear understanding of the organization gaps and possibilities.

The workshop consists of two half-day sessions:

Part 1: Digital Tools for working effectively

The first part is a hands-on workshop introducing digital tools aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of staff on concrete activities, such as creating reports and automating data visualization. A portfolio of tools, such as ChatGPT, natural language processing or data visualization techniques, such as with Tableau, used by leading AI experts from the private sector and other international organizations. The aim of this workshop is to give guidance and moderate discussion on which Digital Tools WTO may implement and how these can be integrated aligned with the organization’s strategy.

Part 2: Digital Skills for fostering transformation

The second part is an interactive workshop that will demystify the topic around digitalization and what it means for international organizations  and INGOs. We will reveal the different use cases of digital technology and design the types of skills that may need to be acquired in the future to create efficiency and effectiveness across the organization. A learning outcome is to co-develop tangible guidelines for management practice.
