From powering web searches, curating social media feeds, detecting and diagnosing diseases, to driving vehicles and navigating roads, artificial intelligence is entrenched in most aspects of our lives. It has eased everyday living and opened possibilities never before imagined in the consumer and commercial realms.

In the public sector, too, AI is becoming indispensable. Cyber defence, policing and traffic control are just some examples. Zooming out AI can also help address issues affecting the welfare and security of millions across national boundaries – and in particular, support the work of international organisations.

In this TECH TALK, Katherine Tatarinov (post doctorial research fellow, University of Geneva), Tina Ambos (Professor of International Management, University of Geneva), Marija Novkovic (Giga Programme Manager, UNICEF) and Phanish Puranam (INSEAD Professor of Strategy) will discuss the results of a study analyzing how AI is applied in impact-oriented initiatives in 40 international organisations including the World Bank, ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) and UNDP (United Nations Development Programme).
